Street-legal golf carts and LSVs for Boerne
Texas law treats a street-legal low-speed vehicle as a neighborhood electric vehicle (NEV), which can be titled, registered and driven on streets posted 45 mph or less. Every Backyard Escapism cart is built to that federal standard, with lights, turn signals, mirrors, a windshield and a seat belt for every seat, in 4, 6 and 8 seat layouts with lithium batteries.

Boerne golf cart questions
Can I drive a street-legal cart on Boerne streets?
Yes, if it is a titled and registered NEV. Texas lets NEVs use streets posted 45 mph or less and cross faster roads at intersections, unless a city or county has barred them from a particular street for safety.
How do I register an NEV in Texas?
Take the Manufacturer Certificate of Origin, a completed Form 130-U and proof of insurance to your county tax assessor-collector's office. Boerne residents in Kendall County use the Kendall County office.
What equipment does Texas require on an NEV?
TxDMV lists four tires, seat belts, head and tail lights, a windshield, a parking brake, turn signals, rear-view mirrors, brake lights, reflectors and a 17-digit VIN. Our carts are built with that equipment.
Can I drive a regular golf cart in Boerne?
Only in limited cases. Texas will not register a golf cart. With a golf cart plate it may run in a platted master planned community with restrictive covenants, or on streets a city has opened to golf carts by ordinance. Check with the City of Boerne before driving a plain golf cart on city streets.
