Street-legal LSVs for Corona
Corona Police say a low-speed vehicle (LSV) can be driven on roads with a speed limit of 35 mph or less, as long as it is registered and insured and the driver holds a valid California license. Every Backyard Escapism cart is built as a street-legal LSV with lights, turn signals, mirrors and a seat belt per seat, in 4, 6 and 8 seat layouts with lithium batteries.

Local rules
Golf carts and LSVs in Corona
- An LSV (also called an NEV) has four wheels, a top speed over 20 mph and up to 25 mph, a 17-digit VIN and a gross vehicle weight rating under 3,000 pounds.
- An LSV is a motor vehicle that needs a valid California driver license, registration and insurance.
- An LSV may not be driven on any road with a speed limit above 35 mph. It may cross a faster road at an intersection if the crossing starts and ends on a road posted 35 mph or less.
- State highways may be crossed only at controlled intersections, unless the local authority has approved an uncontrolled crossing.
- A golf cart is a separate class: built for two people or fewer, no faster than 15 mph, and kept off roads posted over 25 mph unless a local ordinance or resolution allows it.
- A golf cart cannot be converted for registration as an LSV. One modified to go faster than 15 mph or seat more than two people must meet passenger-vehicle safety standards.

Yes, on roads with a speed limit of 35 mph or less. Corona Police note that an LSV is a motor vehicle that needs a valid California driver license, registration and insurance.
Can I cross a road posted over 35 mph?
Yes, at an intersection, if the crossing starts and ends on roads posted 35 mph or less. State highways may only be crossed at controlled intersections unless the local authority has approved an uncontrolled crossing.
Is a golf cart the same as an LSV?
No. A California golf cart carries no more than two people, tops out at 15 mph and cannot use roads posted over 25 mph unless a local ordinance or resolution allows it. An LSV reaches more than 20 mph and up to 25 mph and can use roads posted 35 mph or less.
