Street-legal golf carts and LSVs for Mount Pleasant
Mount Pleasant follows South Carolina's golf cart law: a permitted golf cart can use roads posted at 35 mph or less, but only in daylight unless it is registered as a low-speed vehicle (LSV). Every Backyard Escapism cart is built as a street-legal LSV with lights, turn signals, mirrors and a seat belt for every seat, in 4, 6 and 8 seat layouts with lithium batteries.

Mount Pleasant golf cart questions
Are golf carts legal in Mount Pleasant?
Yes. A golf cart with an SCDMV permit decal can use secondary roads posted at 35 mph or less. The driver must be 16 with a valid license and carry the registration and proof of insurance.
Can I drive a golf cart at night in Mount Pleasant?
Only if it is registered as a low-speed vehicle. A golf cart on a standard SCDMV golf cart permit is limited to daylight hours.
How far from home can I drive a permitted golf cart?
The SCDMV says a permitted golf cart may be driven within four miles of your home or business. The permit costs $5 and must be replaced every five years or when you move.
What is the difference between a golf cart and an LSV?
A low-speed vehicle (LSV) is built to federal safety standards, with a VIN, seat belts, lights and mirrors, and is titled and registered like a car. Our carts are built as street-legal LSVs.
