Street-legal golf carts and LSVs for Scottsdale
In Scottsdale, golf carts and neighborhood electric vehicles (NEVs) can be driven on the roadway when they are registered and insured and the driver is licensed. Every Backyard Escapism cart is built as a street-legal low-speed vehicle (LSV), the federal standard Arizona uses to define an NEV, in 4, 6 and 8 seat layouts with lithium batteries.

Scottsdale golf cart questions
Can I drive a golf cart on Scottsdale streets?
Yes, if it is registered and insured and the driver is licensed. The City of Scottsdale applies those requirements to both golf carts and neighborhood electric vehicles (NEVs) on the roadway.
Which roads can an NEV use?
Roads posted 35 mph or less. You may cross a road posted above 35 mph at an intersection.
What counts as an NEV in Arizona?
An emission-free electric vehicle with at least four wheels that meets the federal low-speed vehicle standards. Our carts are built as street-legal LSVs to that standard, with lights, mirrors, a seat belt per seat and a VIN.
Can a 6 or 8 seat cart be registered as a golf cart?
No. Arizona defines a golf cart as built to carry no more than four people, including the driver. Our 6 and 8 seat carts are built as LSVs, which fall under Arizona's NEV definition.
