Southlake golf cart questions
Can I drive a golf cart on Southlake streets?
Yes, on streets posted at 35 mph or less. Southlake Police require a licensed driver, registration, insurance and safety equipment (lights, reflectors, mirrors, parking brake), and limit golf cart use on public roads to daylight hours.
What is the difference between a golf cart and an LSV?
A low-speed vehicle (LSV) is built to federal safety standards, with a VIN, seat belts, lights and mirrors, and is titled and registered like a car. Texas lets LSVs use roads posted at 35 mph or less. Our carts are built as street-legal LSVs.
Can my teenager drive it?
Southlake requires the operator to hold a valid driver's license.
Which roads can I use?
Any public street posted at 35 mph or lower. Roads posted above 35 mph are off-limits, so plan routes that stay on neighborhood streets.
