Tybee Island golf cart questions
Are golf carts legal on Tybee Island?
Yes, with limits. Carts registered with the city may use every city street except Highway 80/Butler Avenue. Drivers must be licensed and at least 16, and carts must pass an annual inspection.
Where can I cross Highway 80 on Tybee?
Only at designated points: Highway 80/Butler Avenue south of Park of 7 Flags, and the traffic-controlled intersections at 14th Street, Campbell Avenue and Jones Avenue.
What equipment does Tybee require?
Headlights, taillights, brake lights, turn signals, a horn, a seat belt for every seat and a top-mounted amber flashing or rotating light visible from all directions. Our carts come with the lights and a seat belt for each seat; ask your rep about adding the amber light.
How does Tybee treat an LSV?
The city's motorized cart registration covers carts with a top speed of 20 mph or less. An LSV is faster, and is titled and registered with the state like a car. Call Tybee Parking Services at 912-472-5089 to confirm what they need for an LSV.
