Golf carts and LSVs in Avalon
- Avalon's code treats LSVs as motor vehicles: they must be registered with the NJ Motor Vehicle Commission to be driven on public streets.
- New Jersey requires an LSV to be titled, registered and insured, and the driver must hold a valid driver license.
- An LSV may not be driven on a road posted above 25 mph, unless the borough, county or NJDOT has approved a road posted up to 35 mph.
- Personal use by the owner, the owner's permitted drivers and guests is allowed; offering rides to the public as a business, even for free, needs a borough license.
- Child restraints in an LSV must meet the same standards as in a passenger car.
- An LSV must carry the manufacturer's "25 mph Vehicle" decal on the rear and is exempt from regular state inspection.

What equipment does an LSV need in New Jersey?
Headlamps, turn signals, tail and stop lamps, reflectors, mirrors, a parking brake, a windshield, a VIN, a seat belt at every seat, plus a speedometer, odometer and a "25 mph Vehicle" decal on the rear. Our carts are built as street-legal LSVs with this equipment.
