Englewood, FL
Street-legal LSVs for getting around Englewood
Englewood is unincorporated and sits across the Sarasota and Charlotte county line, so Florida's state rules for golf carts and low-speed vehicles (LSVs) apply on both sides. A registered LSV can use streets posted 35 mph or less, while a golf cart is limited to roads designated for golf carts. Every Backyard Escapism cart is built as a street-legal LSV in 4, 6 and 8 seat layouts with lithium batteries.

Englewood golf cart questions
Can I drive a golf cart on Englewood roads?
Only on roads designated for golf carts with a posted limit of 30 mph or less, and only where local rules allow it. A titled, registered and insured low-speed vehicle (LSV) with a licensed driver can use any street posted 35 mph or less.
Does it matter which county I live in?
Englewood is split between Sarasota and Charlotte counties. Florida's LSV rules are the same in both: streets posted 35 mph or less, a valid driver's license, and a title, registration and insurance. Golf cart roads are set locally, so check with your county before driving a golf cart on a public road.
What do I need to drive an LSV in Englewood?
A valid driver's license with you, plus a title, registration and Florida insurance with at least $10,000 PIP and $10,000 PDL.
What is the difference between a golf cart and an LSV?
Under Florida law a golf cart cannot go faster than 20 mph, while a low-speed vehicle (LSV) has a top speed between 20 and 25 mph. An LSV has a VIN, seat belts, lights and mirrors, and is titled, registered and insured like a car. Our carts are built as street-legal LSVs.
